A filter strip at left, abuts a corn field in Tuscola County, Michigan - Saginaw Bay Watershed. Filter strips slow the rate of runoff, allowing sediments, organic matter, and other pollutants that are being conveyed by the water to be removed by settling out. Filter strips reduce erosion and the accompanying stream pollution, and can be a best management practice.
